Alright.
Three men are at a convention and are staying in the same hotel room. The room cost $15 for the night so each of the three men pays $5.
Later, the hotel owner remembers that because of the convention, the room should have cost the men only $10 in total. The owner gives the bell hop five $1 bills and asks the bell hop to take it to the men.
The bell hop figures there is no way to divide five bills evenly amongst three men .. So he decides to keep two of the 1 bills for himself, and returns to each man a $1 bill.
Now, the room cost $15 originally, or $5 for each man. However with the $1 bill back in each of the three mens pockets, each man has in affect only paid $4 for the room.
$4 X 3 = $12 ... Plus the $2 the bellhop keeps .. That adds up to $14 ... There were however $15 originally, in the begining of this story.
Where is the missing dollar?
