I have a C-Band system (big dish) with a 4DTV receiver and a slaved mpeg FTA receiver. I pay under $100 a year for the all of the basic stuff I want to subscribe to (channels are ala carte) and alternate movie channel packages that range from $28-$50 for 3 months of 20 or so movie channels. On top of that there are hundreds of free channels up there. Equipment is a little higher to start with but you save it back many times over in the long run (plus often you can get it used free or cheap). It's a little more involved to use than DirecTV but you can't beat it for price/quantity of channels anywhere.
