It could be nothing which is why no one cares about the delay, or it could be something very substantial which is why they need that extra time to confirm the findings and make sure that they dont put people into a panic, fear, or other state on half true information.

There was a comet recently that came very close to crashing into earth that they decided not to brief the nation about, had they, it would have certainly caused panic. Just an example of why information release can be delayed.

Or maybe its just drama hour at NASA and they want more funding?
