Dont forget that the majority of us do use AIM on a regular basis, so although probably all of us have outgrown AOL there was certainly a need for it and there continues to be one. Its good for introducing people to the internet, it makes a good portal, its an easy way to use email without knowing what POP or SMTP server is, and its good for instant communicating and chatting. Grant the majority of us would never use AOL now, but I got my start on AOL nearly a decade ago, so believe me there is a definite need for it, maybe not for us now, but certainly for other individuals.
