Just have to speak out on this. I have watched and read for months as many of you here cheer, n applaud as billing companies get closed down, and the usuall rants n raves of "should have gone with this biller or that biller" come rolling in.
I am in NO way defencing child pron. Verotels move should have been made a long long time ago we all know that. However as the noose tightens and less and less billing companies are out their then it puts ALL adult webmasters at the mercy of the very few, percentages will rise, becuase where else will you go, more regulations will come, making it harder for legit webmasters to make decent bucks. Dont you guys see that it is only a matter of time before their will no 3rd party credit card processing left!
How much time, who knows, but i doubt we are talking more than 2 years. Why on earth anyone would wanna see Verotel go down is beyond me, it dont make sense, it just makes for a tighter and more monopolised American based market, where the webmaster will have to go with whatever the biller requires and asks, cause where else is would they go.
A good example of this was when Probilling stopped processing credit cards, probilling was at that time a very good alternate for EU webmasters. No less than 48 hours later a well know US Based 3rd party processor upped their EU rates by 1.8 percent. Just like that ... why cause they can and they knew alot of webmasters would be wanting real quick solutions to find another processor and would probably pay what ever percentage was asked just to keep in biz.
Cover your ass in the same way we have done, offer multiple Billing options, get a merchant account, and try cut loose as much as you can from the grip of Visa/Mcard. Becuase when they are ready they will cut you dead in a second!
