I have several video cameras... one that might fit your budget and give you good quality as well is the Sharp VL-Z3U ViewcamZ. It's a digital MiniDV -- I bought mine for around $375 on sale. The only thing my model didn't come with that would have been nice was the remote and I think the next model up includes that for not much more. The quality is very good.
