No, you can setup a website to just be
http://domain.com
WWW part is what people have been trained to type in.
I have read where some people thought typing
www. was redundant and therefore didn't put in DNS entries to map
WWW. to their IP when a surfer typed it in.
You need to put in a DNS entry to map
WWW.domain.com to the correct IP. Same true if you were doing mail.domain.com, etc
What remains to be heard are the patent infringement claims.
Those that received the letters need to have an attorney get that information, since their first letter was to just respond within 20 days of receiving notice.
