I just had an email from someone asking to cancel the account as the card had been stolen 'recently' and it had been used 'illegally' to sign up for my site. I checked back and the original signup was in August 2003, so something certainly doesn't smell right. If the card was used without their consent then surely they would have noticed it by now?

This person only asked to cancel, so I cancelled and refunded the most recent charge... but I hope they are not going to push it further, 5 months worth of chargebacks is going to hurt.

BTW, they are in the same city as me, and I was able to confirm that their address details in the phone book match the details entered into the signup form.

What are your thoughts? Complete bullshit? Family member who discovered their son/brother signed up for the site and they're trying to cover up? Remember they only asked to cancel...
