that software is good, and it will save your bandwith bills, but server load, well that could happen - what i can suggest is to optimize the .htaccess on front end, that should lower the load a lot.
consider that each 'line' that you have there is like one more request for the CPU.
like if you have 10 lines and you have 100 visitors, that means that the server needs to check all those 10 lines for all 100 visitors, and that can pump up the load a lot.
so that if you have a very good .htaccess and you use antihotlinking, the server should be safe, just don't use an old 386 hehe j/k
