It doesn't surprise me. One time there I saw a cashier ask another cashier if a $100 was ok because it didn't have the security strip in it. It was an old bill, made before the time the U.S. Mint put security strips in the bills. It even passed the marker test, but she still asked a coworker. So now they hispanic guy in line has all these people looking wondering if he is passing bad bills.
I wouldn't have given it another thought, but the next customer tried to pay for something using a Canadian dime. The cashier, again, turns to her co-worker asking if they accept Canadian dimes.
