For too long, teens have been pawns for politicians.
They can gaurantee votes from older americans by violating the rights of younger americans.
The blind senile elderly support taking drivers licenses away from teenagers, but would never give up their own despite statistics showing their age group to be far more dangerous.
Citys impose curfews where you can be taken to jail for being out past evening, depite doing nothing criminal. I can recall multiple occasions from HS where kids would be arrested literally outside their own houses.. cops wouldn't even go up to the door to notify the parents.
Yeah, some kids are bad. Some are thieves and vandals or worse. But you can't pre-emptively punish everybody for the actions of a few. Imagine if they used the same logic for racial minorities, to prevent crime; or for women, for "their own safety".
Why do kids shoot up schools? Because they are systematically disrespected and have no effective way of expresing their anger. I'd rather they use ballots than bullets.
On some issues, like education, teens are the best informed. They're not making judgements based on experiences 20 years ago; they're current. They know better than anyone what's wrong in schools today.
