was replying in another topic, and got carried away giving a tip on a different issue

so I thought I'd give it here...
also the fact it's been two guys in the last day asking me the same question... thought this could help some of you perhaps?
let me know if this help...
tip to get better clickthru in galleries.
( I should say this i mostly for full page ads, not templates galleries... as Not Banner/thumbs/banner type of page...
___
if you can get the surfer to get caught in your "channel".... in your flow, then there's no way he'll get out of it... he'll just HAVE to click on your link... and if you design your page well enough for him to see the link at a glance, then BAM... there the guy goes, a click for you...
Easy guidelines:
1- Make the guy horny (text, pictures)
2- Make him want more (good pictures, text)
3- Let him see how good the site is (sell the site with a bit of text)
that's the only 3 factors when it comes to sell a site to a surfer.... only those, with variants.... you can use ONE factor, or 3 at the same time, find what works for you...
Make sure the gallery is well design so that there are no real HOLE in the gallery... it must look like an entire page.... not just different blocks... you must seek for the perfect symbiosis of pics, descriptions and links.
and for those of you that have low clickthru... MAKE 'EM SEE THE LINK!
if you get only 1-2%, look at your page....
then see if you did the following.. if not, go back, modify it, and see if there's a change... there should be:
1- Link Text should use blind type stuff, but used correctly...
instead of "ENTER" or "CLICK HERE" say "Click HERE for Amateurpages.com" or
"Enter For MORE at
AmateurPages.com"
that way, tgps are happy, you tell the surfer what it is, but you get to use clear wording as to them knowing it's where they need to go for more.
2- Link Text should be CLEARLY DIFFERENT
Use anything so it stands out of the page. That is
- High Contrast Color
- Bigger Font
- Bold, Italic
- other Jpgs
that should do it...
I mean, if you are on a webpage, and you wanna buy a new mother board... but you can't find the god damn BUY button... are you going to buy there? same for the surfers, they won't click if they can't find it FAST.
