you really shouldn't overestimate cable/dsl users yet... dial-up is still 'it' and will be for a long time...
coz see it this way;
more and more surfers are switching to cable/dsl but who are these surfers? those surfers all live in the western world coz only there the techniques are available and most of them by far have used dial-up before they switched to cable/dsl. they surfers are mainly the hardcore internet users which spend a lot of time online and know how the internet works...
now, which surfers do you make money from? THE 'STUPID' ONES ofcourse! Coz to my opinion it's not really necessary or worth it to join paysites... you can get it all for free off usenet and filesharing... But very few people know the right places to get it! To discover those possibilities you gotta be online a lot so only the hardcore users who spend a lot of time online know and therefore won't buy memberships... and guess who they are? yes indeed, the cable/dsl users!!!
So the money is mainly with the dial-up surfers so it's not very smart to invest a lot of money to make your paysite a broadband paradise...
And even stronger;
only the western world uses internet much... and even in this part of the world there are still A LOT of potential surfers which aren't connected yet...
If slowly other continents also start to use internet like it started in the western world they will ALL start with dial-up, just like happened over here and especially these starting users are PERFECT to make money out of, coz they haven't discovered every corner of the net yet and will therefore easily buy a membership coz they think that's the only possibility to get porn on the net! so the number of dial-up users will be far more than the number of broadband users for a very long time i expect...
that's why aiming your site towards dial-up users is in general smarter than aiming it towards broadband users...
