Gemini,
I used to do a little side work for a photographer. He turned me on to Nikon, and Bronica.
At the time, (a few years ago) he had a Nikon F5 converted to Digital. You could only have it done by Nikon. They added a digital back or something. This camera was a fucking monster.
I saw some portraits he had done with it. They were blown up to about 48" tall, and I swear it looked like the people were standing behind the wall that the photo was hung on. Almost like you were looking thru a window instead of a photo.
He said the full system cost him close to 60k. 30 for the camera, and 30 for the computer system. That sounds like a lot, but he made that money back in no time.
If you have 60k, then go for it.
I tend to agree with you Gem, digi (at a non-pro level) still looks like digi to me.
Hey Wizzo, do you scan your own slides, or do you have an outside company do it?
I shoot primarily Tri-X, and Ilford 3200, but most of my photos are for my own personal artwork.
TriX for it's sharp tight grain and contrast, and I use 3200 for it's loose, grainy, gritty, dirty look.
