he was converting regular vhs tapes to mpeg... But I believe it is even eaiser to convert camcorder tape to mpeg.. Especially digital 8 like you have.. What type of camcorder do you have? digitial 8? Mini Dv?
There are tons of programs that convert that shit over for ya.. In fack I think you can download much of it for free on the net!
Post a new thread asking about it on the message board and see if anyone helps.
