Colors and shapes supposedly have a huge impact on your surfers. I don't know about how they help convert though.
I remember learning about it in a sociology class (many moons ago
). Blue is calming, also the fave color for most men. Red is exciting and sexual, etc. I'm sure you could find all of the colors and how they affect people on the web. I can't remember them off the top of my head.
Shapes, I remember. Triangles invigorate, captivate, they can also be a symbol for power, masculinity, strength, aggression. Circles give a sense of connection, safety, femininity, comfort, sensualtity & love. Rectangles symbolize order, logic and security.
This was all from a sociology class though. I use it with my design and logo's, etc. cause they've done so many tests on it, I figure there is something to it. Don't know if actually helps to convert though.
