Sorry to hear of your bad (and scary) luck. I ride a bmw bike in the warmenr months and constantly fear riding through any city-like urban area at night. At least in a car you can lock the doors and floor it, if you think you can get away with it. On bike, well, no way. Nothing to stop the bullets except my back and head. Hmmm... No thanks.
Sad part is that I live 150 or so miles north of NYC and there are very few jackings of that nature up this way -- and I still fear them. Maybe I'm just paranoid or maybe I'm just being careful. Either way, I'm still not gonna' leave myself open to attack if I can help it.
