without religion, society would be corrupt. it holds a key place in our society to keep things running smooth, teaches us what the moral things are.
the movie, I will go see it. not because I believe, not because I Want to be reconverted to christianity, but because Jesus DID walk the earth and had a story to tell. his story could be fiction or true, but he is pretty much the most popular man known to mankind and I would like to see his story

I'm not telling anyone not to believe in God. I'm stating my opinion which is in no way to be misconstrued as an endorsement for theism or atheism.

No.No.No.No.No. Don't fall into that trap. Religion adds to the corruption of society but more tragically, it <b>validates</b> that corruption through "divine doctrine" in the minds of believers. Wars are waged over religion, people are killed, women are raped and oppresed because of religion. Religion has done more for the corruption and devastation of society than any other single belief or event. Modern day examples can be found right around the globe in the middle east.
Religion doesn't teach anyone "morals". If that were the case, no priests would have a 10 year old's penis in their hand right now but I guarantee you it's happening at this very moment.
I do believe that religion <b>scares</b> some people into doing good...which is a benefit but I could argue that proper laws and punishment does the same thing without all of the nasty jihad as a result.
People don't need religion, religion needs people.
