The only argument I can see as having some validity is this issue of where do you draw the line?

Should it be legal for the guys in Utah then to have 20 wives with half of them not even 18?

Suppose you do have a gay couple, what will the impact be on a child if they adopt? Does the child have any rights if he decides when he's 16 he doesn't want to have gay parents and he wants out?

If a guy has 20 wives, does that entitle him to all the associated benefits from the government?

So though I do endorse the to each his own concept, it really does need a lot more discussion to really see how best to handle this in terms of all the secondary ramifications.
The issues you bring up could be brougt up in any situation.

Re: age of consent is a whole other issue. As long as they are adults 18+ or whatever age the state you live in has chosen to be the age of consent/reason then you should be able to have as many wives or husbands you wish.

Gay couples adopt now. And any child even those being raised by their natural parents can emancipate themselves if they choose to do so

What it boils down to is a religious/moral issue. These "secondary ramifications," are only the crimped corner on the ace in a 3 card monty game.

Just something to keep your eyes on while not revealing what their real reasons are behind all of this...Their "Christian beliefs."

If Christianity called for more than one wife...you think this would be an issue with polygamy? LOL
