I was never around smart pets until the last couple of years. Recently, though, I've been amazed at how much some pets know. Here's an article on the topic that came out Sunday...

A COLLIE named Benji has been named the brainiest dog in Britain after learning the names of 50 soft toys.
Three-year-old Benji was taught the extensive list of cuddly characters by owner Clive Pedley. Mr Pedley, a retired dog handler, just has to say the word and Benji will fetch the correct toy - even in the dark.
Benji also responds to more than 20 other commands, including sit, heel, down, stand, go left and go right.
Clive said: "He's amazing. He can learn a new name in minutes. He must be using scent as well as the words, because even when I put the lights out he still gets it right.
"He has an incredible thirst for knowledge. If he was human he'd be an astro-physicist."
The names Benji knows are: Lion, Kangaroo, Reindeer, Father Christmas, Lobster, Hedgehog, Pig, Ladybird, Gorilla, Kirsty, Jade, Monkey, Chimp, Dragon, Pudsey, Rabbit, Flopsy, Snake, Seal, Boot, Mammoth, Hog, Chicken, Cracker, Xmas Pud, Pork Pie, Tiger, Milly, Snowman, Dog, Little Ted, Fish, Crab, Hamster, Horns, Pinky, Stegosaurus, Iguanadon, Dinosaur, Martin, Santa, Ball, Collie, Ted, Toad, Rudolph, Pluto, Neil, John, Frog.
