I watched a recreation on the Discovery Channel about how we got into Afghanistan. A few days after 9/11 two CIA operatives were dropped into the desert by themselves and hiked to where they stayed the night. One of them walked into a Northern Alliance stronghold and made contact with a leader and then had to travel from camp to camp gathering support. The interesting part was hearing that just two days before 9/11 the main Northern Alliance leader was assassinated by two guys saying they wanted to interview him. After meeting him they blew themselves up using a hidden bomb in the camera. They said they thought that would keep the NA from helping us.
