i've been trying to decide myself between mitsubishi's 22" top-end crt and a 20" (or so) lcd from like samsung or sony (must have 1600 or better res, couldn't stand less for working). the mits is $700 without the color calibrating hardware, or $1200 with.

the sony, samsung and nec/mits large lcd's (the ones with 1600x1200) are all around $1300. so, for 1 lcd that's usable, i can get 2 high-end mits crts.

but, it's a tough choice. from what i'm reading, the only thing that crt's really have any more over lcd's is cost and color.

the ergonomics are really what's making it a difficult decision, the eye strain reduction and desk requirements of an lcd are soooo sexy.

power consumption is lower, clarity/geometry are way better, eye strain and ergomomics are huge advancements in lcds over crts.
