My girlfriend and I just got back...I grew up in NJ, very close to the city, so I knew a bunch of stuff to do. The museum of natural history has a lot of cool shit to see, and the A-C-E subway line stops literally right at the museum. You have to go downtown and check out ground zero, they built a PATH station to jersey that actually sits right on the site of the towers, very eerie feeling standing in it...again, the subway runs right to it. Lots of cool little bars and restaurants in the village, i like it the best down there...if youre interested in broadway shows then go to times square the day you want to go to one...there is a booth in the middle with a big TKTS sign that sells tickets half price the day of the show, and they usually have a lot of shows available (not the big ones like the producers and lion king, but they will probably have chicago, little shop of horrors, hairspray, etc). the best shopping on 5th ave and madison ave if you got like a million bucks lying around to blow. awesome restaurants everywhere, the best sushi and steaks (it might be worth a trip into brooklyn to get a steak at Peter Luger, but otherwise i wouldnt venture out of the city too much). dont worry, just walk around and youll find shit to do, its the best city in the world.
