I'm afraid to test that theory so far, but I get lots of submissions on pay hosting - guys that have been submitting to me a long time. If they didn't make a profit I'm sure they'd quit.
Of course I don't exactly hammer them, on a good day I might send 3k, but I'm assuming they're submitting to bigger guys too.
