Uh, no, you were not here first, the North American Indians were...and that is the other half of my heritage.
The way I see things is Quebec would be perfectly happy in Canada if they could just run the whole damn country and have everything their way. You want to keep your culture..that is nice...but so do I, and so does every other nationality. You don't need your own country to do that. They do need to seperate and get their own country to do that. Culture is much more than owning a country. It is something that is in your heart, much like faith/religion. Culture is something that happens in the homes, it happens when you interact with others the same. You say if you do not get this no one will speak French? How the hell do you come up with that? All my kids speak French, and it is not because I spoke French it is because they learned it right from pre-kindergarten in school. If my ENGLISH children can be fluent in French living in a mostly English province why can't YOUR kids keep the language?
In our city we have what is called the Carrousel of Nations. Every year each of our thriving ethnic cultures within the city host month long "parties" so that the entire city can experience their culture. They are thriving communities within our communit and it is highly attended. They all have dance troups, music, food, clothing...everything....they celebrate their culture with all cultures. If they can do that in our city, why can't you do that seeing as you have a whole province to do it in? I'll tell you why...because you want it all. Well that is just not going to happen. I LOVE Canada and my family has traced its roots to the very beginning. I believe in Canada, and I believe ALL cultures have a place here, including the French...but you can NOT have it all. No one can have it all. Canada and the U.S. are unlike any other countries in the world, we are made up of all cultures. It is something to celebrate. There is always France ya know.
