What are the biggest TGP's famous for?
Why are they Big?
What makes their traffic high quality?
Bookmarks. Bookmarks. Bookmarks.
So if you want to have a truely successful TGP, you want to to get as many people to bookmark as possible (like I'm telling you anything new here).
So now comes the question...
how do you know if someone is returning from a bookmark or not?
A visitor hitting your TGP/webiste from a bookmark has no referring url.
* Note, there are other reasons that people might not have a referring url as well. But if you have an active idea working to promote bookmarking, then by far, these HTTP_REFERER-less users will be bookmarkers.
So now you can easily identify when people are returning from bookmarks. Fantastic!
But now the big question...
How do you get them to bookmark in the first place?
My short answer: Offer them something daily that they really want access to & only give them the password for it, or access to it, if they are visiting your site without a HTTP_REFERER
Examples of things to entice people to bookmark:
A real-time chat room that is password protected daily.
A chat forum that is password protected daily.
Daily news headlines, that are password protected daily.
A free trial pass to some sort of adult feature that is password protected daily.
Basically anything that you can think of that would entice the user to come back daily,
but requires the user to get the daily password to access it
And the only way you would show them the daily password, is if they have hit your site from the bookmark (meaning they have no HTTP_REFERER)
Does this make sense?
