You seem like a very credible pollitical expert. If Chretien did something illegal, he'll be prosecuted, right? It'll also be all over the news and there's gonna be a big deal about it, right? That hasn't happened so shut the fuck up.
You're just another english canadian who's bitter cause quebec rules canada. Look at prime ministers since 1947. 11 years have been governed by a non quebec native prime minister, against 45 years by a quebec born prime minister.
Quebec also made French an official language, which pisses off english canadians.
FYI, when doing a comedy bit that is supposed to make fun of an entire people, they usually go after the most wierd individual to give credit to their argument. Let's face it, they could have taken english canadians and done the same thing.
The reason quebec wants to separate is because they are very different from the rest of canada (quebec actually has a culture). They feel that they don't relate at all with the rest of canada and therefore they should have their own nation. There's that and the years of oppression by english canada. Back over 50 years ago, they tried to assimilate french speaking people by forcing them to speak english in schools, etc.
Not everyone is a separatist in quebec. If they were, they'd have their country by now. You can't distinguish a separatist from a non separatist and you put everyone in the same pack. Lots of english canadians are stupid and whiny too, but you don't see normal intelligent people saying all english canadians are retards.

Btw, I live in english Canada and I don't think Quebec should separate. All we have to do is educate ignorant people and teach them how not to be racist and accept diversity.
Both quebecers and english canadians need to grow up and learn to accept each other. Diversity is a force, not a fucking weakness.
