Gratuitous use of the word "officially" annoys me
Why do people feel compelled to add the word "officially" where it isn't necessary? Phrases such as, "I am officially pissed off now" would mean exactly the same thing without "officially". Does it imply that sometimes they are UNofficially pissed off? Were people speculating or spreading rumors that they were pissed off? Are they speaking in some sort of official capacity?
Please stop butchering the language!
