how exactly would we "abuse" cloning?
cloning is not the same thing as custom genetic manipulation;
which is perfectly fine too IMO, but that is another issue.
clone = identical. that's all.
change it, and it's not just a clone anymore.
if 'natural' (accidental) identical twins aren't evil,
then neither are cloned (intentional) twins.
Not that this application has much use,
but it is what most technophobes seem to worry about.
if your heart isn't scary, then neither is the fresh healthy heart
they clone for you after you have fucked up your original one.
would you rather have a fresh identical replacement of your own heart,
or get a transplant from a random corpse? ..or die waiting for one..
..or die after the strangers heart is rejected by your body.
like it or not, you are a machine made out of meat.
when one of your parts breaks, you will pray for a spare.
that is what cloning is really for. spare parts. not new people.
cloning may save your life one day,
and it will definately extend the lives of your children.
