layers use up too much bandwidth. you can acomplish anything you want in tables. I've used dreamweaver 2,3, now 4 ultradev for over a year. I've used layers, i've also converted back and forth between layers and tables. it was a tough decision. but in the end, you have to decide which is more cost efficient for you and your purpose. Would layers really make your site more money? probably not but maybe it would make your site look better! granted...but the rule still applies... KISS = keep it simple stupid. tables should work just fine and it's faster to do. if you want to work in layers that's fine.. convert back to tables... although you understand that if you convert layers back into tables, your whole site will be FILLED with tables... it's a web of tables...which also makes it incredibly hard to redesign few minor details should they arise. your best bet? use tables from the beginning.
my 2 cents.
hope it helped.
