I agree with you to a certain degree. There have been 23 reported shootings in Ohio and if you go to any major news site it's buried in the "Around the Nation" quips area and nowhere near the headline. When the DC sniper got off two rounds, it stayed on every headline, news channel, and radio talk show until they captured M&M.
My opinion is that it's happened before therefore it wont create as big of a draw for ratings. People have that "Been There, Done That" mentality when it comes to news and the sniper cases are old news.
