Nice of all you folks to complain about a pregnant woman gaining weight and knowing NOTHING about the importance of doing so. Here, I'll break it down for you all.
Minimum of 1.1 pounds for breasts
Placenta 1.6 pounds
Amniotic Fluid 2.0 pounds
Fetus average 8.3 pounds (or thereabouts)
Uterus 2.4 pounds
Fat store (neccessary for healthy pregnancy and breastfeeding) 8.5-10 pounds depending on body size.
Blood 3 pounds
Other fluids 6.1 pounds
Total Approximately 33 pounds (give or take).
Now 70 pounds might seem like a lot, but at LEAST half of that is NECCESSARY weight gain... The rest may be more than she needs, but come ON folks.
