Fender Stratocaster all the way, the most road worthy guitars I have ever owned over the last 20 years of playing.
You sound like you need a guitar with Dual Humbuckers and a Rosewood fretboard. The tone is a little heavler than Maple fretboards.
Check out guitars with active electronics. Dont get a guitar with a floyd rose or other system. If its not string thru body the tone wil be insanely thin.
Ibanez are nice, but only in the high end models. JEM series are nice. the standard RG series are Shit. I've had them, totally thin.
There are only 2 amps out there worth using.
1. Marshall - The Original of them all. JCM9000's totally scream.
2. Mesa-Boogie - Get a Vintage Mark V if you can.
The line6's with their Digital things are nice and all, but, when you are playing in a club and something goes funky on the amp or in your rig, you dont want the whole tone to be dependant on your cool settings / mixed settings. I've had a million pedals / processors and they all go south on you at the gig, never at home.
Also, most people 10 - 20 feet out cant hear the effects anyway.
Best investment I ever made for my live rig is a Nasty Wireless. $150 about 10 years ago. Nothing beats a wireless guitar, never trip over a cord again.
