Have you actually read that WHO release? The 'transmission' (which they're doubting it was) was between close family members, and transmission of bird flu between humans has happened in the past (ie. Hong Kong 97).
This disease can already go from person to person, and as they point out in the article itself, has been roaming around asia since the spring of 2003. Additionally, person to person transmission resulted in mild-to-nonexistant symptoms, which is why they doubt transmission in this case (the two sisters died) as the symptomology and their death is more likely explainable as them coming into direct contact with contaminated chicken.
Let's just say that I don't anticipate Randall Flagg coming out of the woodwork QUITE yet.
