The NFL is on a broadcast network and the network makes it's money from eyes watching ads. It makes no sense to turn away those eyes. I understand having rules for PPV events but not broadcast TV.

It's like with satellite programming. On the big dish there are a couple of channels that are recievable by C-band and even have the "call to subscribe" screen up but they won't sell them to you on a system that is currently receiving the signal... only if you switch to their dish system of choice. The cable companies/satellite companies jumping in bed with programmers is great business for them but bad for viewers.
