who rescued the dog? from what/where?
most "animal rescues" are non-profit organizations that rely on donations.
they have teams that go out into the field too.
if somebodys pet can be SAFELY retrieved from a bad situation, why not?
police risk their lives to retrieve stolen cars.. and losing a car is far less heartbreaking.
