It is nice to ask a high price in the hope you will get a solid offer of some sort. We may poke fun at some of the prices of domains but we run $500 logo competitions for names almost as great. A logo is useless without the domain. As a professional salesperson i would only quote "retail" the buyer is on the understanding that is "retail" and until establishing who your buyer is and who you are actually dealing with the retail price is fixed. After realising they have been quailified and offer a name they may care to make a written offer which makes the name sellable.
