I just finished watching the DVD's last week. It was an interesting story.

And, I don't really believe in them, I'm sure there's something out there but the chances of any advanced culture finding us is beyond remote. With all the researching in the world and all the people that have been looking in to the skies it wasn't until just a few years that we found a solar system besides our own that even had a planet. It was only a hypothesis that every sun was orbited by planets. Until that discovery our solar system was the only recorded one with planets.

Not to mention that if life had evolved on some other planet in some part of the galaxy you would have to assume that the development of life would evolve at a similar rate as ours. That would mean that most advanced civilizations would have long since lived and died out millions of years ago. Those being closer to the center of the galaxy. And any chance of an advanced civilizations towards the outside of our galaxy would more than likely be around the same level of advancement as we are.

But that's just the common theory and it doesn't consider possibilities like the speed of thought or any kind of time travel.
