I thought it happened before that. Wasn't it because they presumed that if Argentina's star player had to use his hand to score in the world cup finals and claim it was 'an act of god', then the rest of the country wouldn't think twice about ripping off a sponsor?
Or it could be that some sponsors have relatives living on the Falklands?
