I actually no little of the specifics of the incident you refer to, though I do know about it. The Russians were incredibly resilient during this time, as were the Germans across the whole Eastern Front. In Stalingrad my Grandfather (along with all others) was living off of wall paper glue and saw dust, and braved such horrible conditions that none of us can truly ever know what it was like.
