Actually in a lot of cases a hystorectomy can be a bit faster of a recovery because they do some cauterization while they're inside, but with a c-section the uterus is intact and is VERY tender. I'm hoping that having a hysto this time around will make things a bit better.
Still at least 6-8 weeks for FULL recovery for most people, and for myself it's generally 6-8 months (because of my abdominal bleeding).

I hope you get well quickly, LadyM. I've been lucky with my kids so far and haven't had to have a C-Section, but my mother did have a hysterectomy several years ago.
She was in alot of pain the first day and just slept but she was sitting up watching television and doing crossword puzzles the next day and he doctor actually told her to get up and move around as long as she could bear the pain. He said it would make her heal faster as long as she didn't overdo it.
If you need anything while you're healing please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll do whatever I can. Having a baby is hard enough. I can only imagine how hard it will be for you having to have surgery, too.
