Here's how to stop them...answer the phone, be nice and enthusiastic.

Caller:"Wanna take a survey, blah blah..."
You: "Yeah sure, before we get started can I get your company name and a contact number?"

Get their company name and their contact number, if possible their registration number with the better business bereau, which all telemarketing firms are required by law to have.

If you get this info then ask to be placed on their internal no call list. Once they do hang up. Do that with every call you get, write down the time and the date they called, if you have caller id write that number down to.

I did this for a few weeks last year and the calls have stopped almost completely.

I've heard that if you get a call twice from the same company two or more weeks later, you can sue them for about $2800. I've never gotten that far.

That do not call list doesn't mean shit if the leads are generated or bought from something you signed up for and forgot to read fine print, sometimes its your long distance carrier, your fone company etc. You can sign up for say, cable and in their privacy policy they say that they may share this info with affiliates of their company, or branches of their company...blah blah. fine print makes the world go round.
