Religion will survive regardless. Every time that something taken for granted by religious people is disproven, they simply assimilate the new data and reinterpret the words of their bible.
What? Evolution really occurs? Well, then that's just part of God's plan. What? Dinosaurs? Well, they must have coexisted with man. What? Life on Mars? Well, God must have created life on more planets after he finished with ours.
