I agree, something like this is a problem. An expensive private college isn't for everyone. But I think everyone could benefit from from receiving a college degree (at least a 2 year degree).
But a college degree doesn't make up for a lack of talent, abilities, and ambition.
I wouldn't encourage someone to quit running a successful business just to get a college degree, but it gives you something to fall back on. By getting a degree, not only do you open doors for yourself, but you also develop your character and mind.
Even Bill Gates (a college drop out) said that- "nobody should drop out of college unless they believe they face the opportunity of a lifetime. And even then they should reconsider."

Anyways, it's probably not in anyones best interest to ditch out on college unless they feel really secure about their future. And anyone talented enough to become a successful entrepreneur, or even the ambition to start their own company probably would benefit from getting a college degree. I think you get my point.
