is tv trying to seperate?

you notice women's shows (sex and the city, this wanna be sex and the city show on showtime, etc...) and guy's shows (the wire, etc...), then gay shows (the queer eye thing and that show on showtime); my point is (and maybe it's just me) but it seems as if more men's channels are popping up.

there's espn, the history channel (american choppers, wings, monster garage, monster house, etc...), every basic channel over the course of the year because of sports and now i caught ads for 2 new channels (one that advertises that barbarella...sp?) which i heard about more times then it rains and now some other channel (cant remember the name).

does it seem like networks are really trying to seperate the sexes or am i just catching tv at the wrong in the evening?
