Tragic indeed...
Don't know enough aout the dog, the dog's owner, etc...
I don't, however, see this as being any different than somebody not watching their child and having him fall into a pool and drowning or geting run over. The fact the the dog was a Pitbull is sensationalism and as doesn't really have a any bearing on the story at all.
