What I have figured out is that it is not the price that make a surfer pull out the credit card but instead it is the PORN.
The porn video store sales one fucking video for $29.99 and nobody bitches; because it aint about the money. $30.00 is not going to bankrupt anyone that can afford to walk into the video store and it aint gonna bankrupt anyone who can afford an internet connection.
If I think a site is worth joining by looking at the tour then I know I will stay past the trial period and get billed more than if I just joined for a month. So why fuck around with the trial?
I'll join the trial if I have a "snake" program to download your entire members area while I'm at work and then quit your site and view it all offline. This is where a lot of these trial cancels come from.
A lot of times surfers will join the site because they just have to see that ONE video you have on the tour and after they see it they are gone. So get full fucking price from these people. They are used to paying $30 for a single video anyway!!!
Rebills are better when surfer pays full price because they know they have a month to check out the content and they take their time to surf the site and end up liking it. But the trial member speeds through the site, half ass looking at the content because they are trying to determine if it's worth hangin around and being billed for full price. But since they only half-assed view it they often don't enjoy themselves so they quit before be rebilled.
Chargebacks are less when they pay full price because many trial programs try to hide the fact that the re-bill is comming and when the surfer gets the bill they are pissed.
My conversion for trials were the same as without trial and for a very simple reason. Many people believe that "you get what you pay for". So when they see a $1.99 trial they believe the only thing they will get is ripped off with a $40 rebill after viewing some content that was worth exactly $1.99.
Think of it this way; if you had to leave your job to search for a nice apartment are you going to miss work to drive across town to look at a apartment that says "only $5.00 per month". Come on; you know it's going to be shit or some kind of set up so you spend your time looking at the one the cost several hundred dollars instead.
As an affiliate I have made more money from sites that don't offer trials because after all the trouble I go thru to get a surfer to click the banner and sign up I need that full price and not 3 fucking dollars an no renewal.
When massivecocks.com had no trial I was sending 70 signups a month for $29.00 each. When they started trial I was sending 70 signups a month but more than half cancelled. So do the math and it's easy to see that I made less money.
On the plus side for the sponsor: If you have a lot of affiliates that send a ton of trials then you can do good because these surfers who cancel type in the domain a month later and re-join the site. When this happens guess who doesn't get credit. hehehe!
I didn't believe a word I just said 4 years ago so I emailed the webmaster of blacksonblondes.com and he told me the exact shit I'm saying now when I asked him to start using trials. I didn't believe him so I started my own pay site and wasted time going through the same shit he already knew.
I have yet to see a program that didn't offer trials go out of biz or shrink into virtual non-existance. But I do know about programs like intergal.com that offered FREE trials and their program is all but defunct.
ARS had to lower and or dump it's free trials because it's hard to get money out of freeloaders and the chargeback ratio is thru the roof. Can you say "terminated by my billing company because of my chargeback ratio"....I knew that you could.
But hey, I'm like everybody else and from time to time I wonder if I can get more signups with a trial. But I don't so it because it's the "flash back syndrome"...ya know when you consider getting back together with the ex...forget it..it'll be the exact same thing that it was before...bullshit!!!!
