Tradition is dead. In a time where parents are more apt to pop in a DVD to babysit their kids instead of actually spending time with them, count on Disney to try and cash in. Disney isn't about tradition...they're about making money. Parents will buy anything they put out...which is why we see titles like Cinderella 2 and Lion King 1 and 1/2.
Pixar will be free of Disney in a few years. They don't need Disney's backing anymore...Disney needs them to stay afloat these days.
