Carrie from Oprano asked:
"Do you know the licensing fees that USA Video and SightSound are asking?"

My response:

Great question... no i don't since neither company has started to target companies outside of their inital lawsuits.

Sightsound.com used to sell audio and videos from their website, but have taken it down, in favor of a new business model.... *drum roll please*.. in licensing patents.

They are currently busy with their lawsuit with BMG which starts in April. After waiting for 7 years to get the trial, I am sure they will be focusing on BMG..and if they are successful, then i see them potentially eyeing the adult industry for all the hoopla that the Acacia issue has generated.

SightSound's patent includes the paid download or subscription to a service that involves digital audio/video.. so you can see how they apply to the adult space.

USA Video is busy with MovieLink.com which is made up of 5 of the top Hollywood shops. Their "downloading of video faster than real time" patent is being tested against MovieLink.com and as i posted earlier, their lead attorney has not ruled out taking the path where the "low hanging fruit" is at.
