....cut the background away from hair?

I have a few techniques. Say i'm building a tour or handout, or whatever, and i need to cut the chick out of the original image...do you have a specific technique you use that works well. If so, care to share?

I'm doing it manually, zooming in, cutting, small fade eraser, maybe a little airbrush if i goof.

any ideas? comments?
